This post has been in the works for about weeks but I’m just now getting to it. Life has been chaotic here. My husband returned from 30 days of training, we listed our house for sale and are getting things in order to move from Colorado to Georgia! On top of all that my kids have had tons of school activities. Today is the start of their summer vacation. I’m hoping it’s the start of more blogging time but I’m sure my kids have other plans.
Blogging is something I never thought of doing until about five months ago. Why would anyone be interested in what I have to say when there are already so many amazing mom blogs out there?
One of those amazing mom blogs is Mom Monster Blog. She continues to amaze me with her thoughtful and helpful blog posts. Her posts about motherhood are something I can relate to and I’m sure many others can too. I love that she tells it like it is and doesn’t sugar coat the parenting process.
I am truly honored to have been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Mom Monster Blog.
As part of this award the following questions were asked:
1. Who is your biggest inspiration as a mother?
My biggest inspiration as a mother is my own mom. She raised my brother and I to be self sufficient which I think is so important. Growing up she always had something frugal and fun planned for us to do. She survived stage 4 brain cancer and thyroid cancer, and came out of it with an even more positive attitude and stronger faith.
2. Is your family just starting, growing, or complete?
My family is complete, for sure!!!! I have three girls and I’m going on 35 so I’m done.
3. What is your number one tip for new moms?
I always tell people to pick your battles. You can’t possibly fight every little battle as a mom. For example: if your child insists on wearing a silly, mismatched outfit let them. Then when there is a big battle like don’t hit or no curse words you have the energy to fight that battle.
4. What inspires you to share your motherhood journey?
Reading other mom blogs is what inspires me to share my journey. I hope that by sharing my journey I’m inspiring and helping other moms as well.
5. What do you want your readers/subscribers/followers to take away from your blog?
I would like my readers to see that I’m a normal stay at home mom. I hope that by sharing my experiences they will be encouraged and motivated.
6. If ’15 year old you’ could see you now, what would she think?
I think she’d be pretty pleased. When I was 15 I had just started dating my husband! Crazy huh. I always dreamed of being a mom and wife.
7. What’s one thing you do just for yourself?
To be honest I buy candy bars and hide them in a secret place to eat once my kids go to bed. If my kids see them they eat them, remember I have three girls.
8. How has sharing your motherhood journey publicly changed you? Has it?
Sharing my motherhood journey has pushed me to be a better mom and to take better care of myself. I’m constantly thinking of new crafts or things to do with my kids that I can share with other moms. I’ve also learned that it is super important to take better care of myself.
9. What’s one show your kids are binging right now, that you know all the characters and songs for?
Because my girls are all five years apart there are a lot of different shows in my house. My 1 year old loves Bubble Guppies Lately. My 6 year old loves Moana and my 11 year old has been watching The Last Ship with me.
10. What’s one moment you felt like an amazing mother?
When my oldest won her school spelling bee, my middle daughter graduated kindergarten and my youngest graduated speech therapy.
Continuing the Sunshine Blogger Award tradition means sharing with you some of my favorite mom blogs. These bloggers bring a smile to my face, inspire and teach me.
