Month 3 Blog Report: My income is increasing.

Blog income report for month 2 and tips for increasing your income.

It’s hard to believe three months of blogging has come and gone. I’ve learned so much these last three months and been working super hard on my blog. Life has been chaotic here so I haven’t been able to devote as much time as I would like.

We are a military family and are selling our house and being moved from Colorado to Georgia in a month. We’ve had to entertain three kids during four crazy days of all-day house showings. It’s hard to keep the house show ready with three kids and three dogs running around. Luckily for me, my amazing hubby has been on leave and been super helpful. The next few months will be busier than ever.

Let’s look back at my goals for May.

-Increase all followers by 50

-Create new printable for my opt in

-Write six blog posts

-Look for sponsored opportunities

-Get and apply the Pin It button for my images

-Increase income

If you’re thinking of starting a blog check out, How To Start A Mom Blog!

That’s not a bad list of goals but I didn’t accomplish all of them.

Blog income report for month 2.

I blew all of my social media follower goals out of the water in May. It took a ton of time spent on social media but was worth it.

What did I do that helped grow my blog in May?

-I continued to focus on social media. Toward the end of the month my focus switched somewhat. I did some research and decided to start focusing more on creating “killer” content.

-Facebook groups were a major help in increasing my followers and page views.

-I began placing two AdSense ads in each post.

-I made it a morning habit to check my google AdSense publisher behavior. It showed me which posts were bringing in the most revenue. Those are the posts that I promoted that day, unless I had published a new post.

-Pinterest group board were also a huge help. I repined my own content daily as well as others content.

**Update: I now use Tailwind to schedule all of my pins! It’s such an amazing tool for bloggers.

My advice to other bloggers that are just starting out:

-As always, be patient. More than likely your blog won’t generate thousands of page views a day or major income for years. It takes patience and consistency. Don’t give up.

-Pin, Pin, Pin… Seriously, I can’t stress enough how important Pinterest is for bloggers. Make sure to create multiple pins for each blog post. My second social media platform is Twitter. Follow others and tweet their content as well as your own. Retweet your old blog posts as well as your new.

-Sign up for rich pins on Pinterest. This was confusing for me but made a huge difference. Basically every thing you pin or repin will have your name on it. People can then go to your profile and see what else you’ve pinned and also access your blog.

-Be yourself. It’s so easy to look at other blogs and see that they’re getting tons of views. Their niche might be different from yours and that’s ok. If you post original and creative content you will be successful too.

-As with everything in life, continue to learn. I search almost daily on ways to be a better blogger. Follow other’s in your niche to see what they are doing.

-Create “Killer” content.

-Make your Pinterest images amazing. Think of the Pins you save on Pinterest. Are the Pins boring or messy? Personally I use Canva for my Pins.

Goals for June:

June and July are going to be really crazy for my family. Honestly I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to work on my blog but I’ve set some goals anyway.

-Increase all followers by 75

-Increase income

-Work on creating a killer affiliate post

-Write 6 blog posts

-Continue to apply for sponsored posts. ( someday I’ll get one.)

Blog income report for month 2 and tips for increasing your income.

So this is what worked for me in May. Most of what I do is the same but since I’m constantly learning about blogging I build on it each month.

I’d love to hear any tips you might have.

This is awesome. I have been blogging for 2 years and this is information I have not gotten before in an easy to understand/use way! Can’t wait to learn more 🙂

Thank you so much. I feel like things are constantly changing. That’s why I’m constantly researching how to do things better.

First of all, I love your blog header! Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing your progress. I’m a newer blogger too and it can be overwhelming but it’s so helpful to see how others are growing and what their strategies are.

    • | 6th Jun 17

Thank you. I love sharing my progress. When I searched Pinterest for blog reports too see how others were doing I came up with so many where people were making tons of money. I want to share my journey from the beginning so that others will feel motivated.

Look at you, killin’ those goals! I have been applying for more sponsored opportunities too, haven’t been keeping track of my social media growth. I can probably start tracking that in my planner.

    • | 6th Jun 17

Thanks. I haven’t gotten any sponsored opportunities still but figure if I keep growing my blog and creating killer content they will come.

  4. Lori | 2nd Jun 17

Great job! I am only a month behind you and learning every day. I will be publishing my first income report soon….The content is key and I keep chasing the shiny penny instead of writing, writing. writing! Good luck to you.

It’s super hard not to focus on the money. I’ve been reading a really good book that has helped with the creative aspect, it’s called She Means Business, by Carrie Green.

  5. Catie | 2nd Jun 17

I love watching your journey. Thanks so much for sharing. I just recently signed up for AdSense (in the last week) and love watching it daily. I’m only up to $3.50, but that’s something!

    • | 6th Jun 17

AdSense money does take awhile to add up. Keep up the hard work and you’ll see progress. Also check you analytics to see which posts are bringing in the most money then promote those posts the most and you should see an increase in income.

  6. Brittany Ferrell | 2nd Jun 17

We are definitely in the same place in our blogging journeys, but I have not yet applied to Google Adsense and I love the idea of seeing which posts gain the most revenue and promoting those posts that day. I never know what to promote when! I also agree with pinning like crazy! Good luck with next month’s goals!

    • | 6th Jun 17

Google AdSense does bring in some money but not a lot. I learned about checking my analytics from Pinterest. I do a lot of research on blogging. Best of luck to you. I love seeing your posts when I get on Mom Bloggers Tribe everyday.

  7. Davi | 4th Jun 17

Great tips and congratulations on your blogging income! I just completed month 2 of blogging, but haven’t focused much on monetizing. You’ve inspired me to check out different avenues!

    • | 6th Jun 17

Thank you. I’m glad that I’ve been an inspiration. AdSense and Amazon Affiliate are the only ways I make money so far.

  8. Julie | 9th Jun 17

Good idea to check your ad publisher stats often, and to add more ads to each post. Do you do that manually? I need to up my game there.
Would love for you to link this up to my gratitude and goals linky.

    • | 9th Jun 17

Yes I do it manually. I have a plugin for Adsense in-post. I’d love to link up! Just let me know how.

  9. Surya | 13th Jun 17

Thanks for this! I just started my blog and it is nice to see someone sharing their early earnings instead of just “how I made $10,000 in one month”! You also made me think maybe I should be spending more time on instagram and twitter. I was surprised to see google adsense was your biggest income. Thanks for the inspiration!

  10. Surya | 14th Jun 17

Thanks for this! It was nice to see a new blogger making a few bucks instead of the usual “How I made $10,000 in a month” blog post. My blog is also new, but I haven’t gotten(like a month), so I am just starting to work on growing it now that I have a few posts up. I thought it was interesting that most of your income came from Google Adsense. I haven’t done that yet, just Amazon. Your post also made me realize that maybe my audience is more on twitter and instagram, so now I need to get more comfortable on those platforms. Thanks for the inspiration, Devon!

    • | 18th Jun 17

      Glad I could help!

We are in the process of selling our house and moving to the new duty station soon so it has been crazy and I feel you on not meeting all the blog goals.
