If you’re a stay at home mom looking for a way to be creative and make some money, you NEED to start a blog! Starting a blog is the best thing I’ve ever done. I went from a stay at home mom who spent most of her days doing the exact same things, to a stay at home mom bringing in a part-time income.
My days were pretty much always the same before I started blogging. I got the kids of to school then cleaned and played with my youngest until school was out. While I love being a stay at home mom and spending time with my kids, I needed something more, something for me.

I have never wanted a career outside the home. From the time I was little, all I wanted to do was stay at home and be a mom. With my kids getting older, except for my toddler, I started looking for ways to make money from home so that I could be there for their concerts and sick days. I tried direct marketing and starting my own crochet business, but those weren’t for me. One night in November of 2017, while playing around on Pinterest I discovered blogging. Wow, how had I never thought of blogging before. That’s when my journey to a work at home mom began.
If you are thinking about starting a blog, go for it! Take the leap and begin your own journey!
The first step in starting a blog is to decide what you’ll blog about. This is called your niche.
Here are some examples:
-tween, toddler, baby or teen parenting
You can blog about pretty much anything you’re interested in.
Domain and Hosting:
After you’ve chosen your niche you’ll need to choose your domain name. This is the web address that your followers will type in to get to your blog. I would suggest choosing something that is easy to remember and type in. For example, my domain name is armywifewithdaughters.com. You can register your domain name and get started here.
I would highly recommend SiteGroundfor your hosting. If you plan on making money from your blog you’ll want to be self-hosted and SiteGroundis the best in my opinion.
Registering your domain is pretty simple. Click the tab that says “hosting” and choose “domain.”
Then you’ll choose your hosting plan. Simply click the “hosting” tab and choose your plan.
I went with the grow big plan when I signed up and love it. It’s just what I need.
Once you’ve got your domain registered and your hosting purchased, you’ll log in and go to your cpanel, click on the button that says “install WordPress.”
You’ll also need to install your domain name. After you’ve done that check your email. You will have an email with a link that takes you to your dashboard, where you’ll customize your blog and write posts.
And now you have a blog!!! Your next step is to may your blog your own. Choose a theme or purchase one. I bought my theme on Etsy, you can see my theme and more here.
