It’s time to take a look at my month nine blog income and traffic.
The last ten months of blogging has definitely had its ups and downs. I’ve struggled at times wondering if I should keep blogging. Somehow I’ve managed to stick with blogging through the tough times. Each time I feel defeated I research and take new classes to learn and grow more as a blogger.
Month ten was a decent month as far as my blog went. I reached my goals and made more money that I had anticipated.
This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase something through these links I may be compensated at no charge to you.
Let’s take a look at my goals for December.
Promote my gift guides and create more pins for them/ I did both of these
Increase my followers/ My followers increased on all social media platforms
Get two sponsored opportunities/ I did get two sponsored opportunities
Update two old posts/ I actually updated more than two old posts.
My social media accounts gained followers again in month ten but my page views went down. I think the drop in page views is because I took a two-week break for Christmas. My family and I traveled home to see family and I wasn’t promoting my blog at all during those two weeks. Last month I talked about using Boardbooster but have decided to make the switch to Tailwind. I’m still in the process of setting my account up so I haven’t seen what it can do yet. I’ll let you know in my next blog report.
You can join any of these programs by clicking on the links above.
Heartbeatis something new for me. I really like it. After signing up you receive opportunities to post to Instagram. Some of the opportunities are paid and some are not. I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for some extra income. The amount you get paid per post depends on your follower numbers and engagement.
Three months ago I started the course Making Sense Of Affiliate Marketingand love it. Michelle teaches how to choose the right affiliates for your niche. One of the biggest things I learned from the course is to figure out what your audience wants, what problem do they need solved? This course is definitely worth the money. It’s not just a onetime course, you can continue to go back through the course and learn more each time. Check out the course here and start making more money blogging!
Swagbucks: In December I didn’t do much with Swagbucks because I was busy with Christmas stuff, but plan on starting again soon. With Swagbucks you earn points my watching videos, taking survey’s and shopping through their links. If your going to buy something on Amazon or another site, go through their links you’ll earn points. Once you reach 2,500 points you can redeem them for a $25 gift card or keep saving up to get larger gift cards. Another awesome perk is that you earn points when you refer your friends to Swagbucks!
Inbox Dollars: I didn’t do much with Inbox Dollars this month. Inbox Dollars works pretty much the same way as Swagbucks. One thing I like about Inbox Dollars is that I can play games to earn money too. Just like Swagbucks you earn money when you refer friends and others to Inbox Dollars. My favorite thing about Inbox dollars is that you earn money just opening emails!
I also use Ibotta and Checkout 51. These are both amazing cashback apps that I use almost every time I go to the grocery store.
My Tips and Advice:
When you’re having doubts about your blog, stick with it. Don’t give up in a moment of doubt. I’ve had many moments where I want to quit but I keep on going. Being a blogger doesn’t happen overnight. Sure you can start a blog in a matter of minutes, but to truly be a blogger and make money it takes time, dedication and tons of learning. It’s a marathon, not a sprint!
Another amazing blogger gave me this piece of advice recently and it has changed the way I blog: Focus on one thing at a time until you’ve master it. then move on to another. Wow! It totally makes sense. I focused all my time and energy on writing and Pinterest. I still remain active on other social media platforms, but most of my energy goes to Pinterest and content.
Don’t focus on the money. For months I watched my income everyday to see if it was increasing. Not only did this stress me out but my writing suffered. Keep writing and learning and the money will come.
Read, Read, Read…. The more you read the better writer you’ll be. I spend lots of time reading others blogs as well as some books I got in the mail recently. At the moment I’m reading the newest Walking Dead Novel. Yup I’m a zombie fan! I’m super excited to start this one next.
