As homemakers it is our “job” or calling to create a home for our families. Part of creating and maintaining a home for our families means doing household tasks we sometimes don’t like. Whether it’s laundry, dishes, cleaning up toys or cleaning the bathrooms, I’m here to help you find the motivation to get them done!
The homemaking task I dislike the most is cleaning the bathrooms. I mean seriously, do I have to clean them once a week? Yes I do, but I sure don’t want to. With three daughters and a husband in the house the bathrooms get quite a beating! Everyday I find toothpaste in places I never thought I would.

There are other homemaking tasks I don’t really like, but the bathrooms take the top of the list. If you’re like me and have a homemaking task you dislike, read on to find the motivation to get it done.
Start by thinking about the family that you’re keeping a home for. Ok, so this might not always work… As a little girl, all I wanted to do when I grew up was be a mom and a homemaker. By thinking back to this dream I’m able to motivate myself to get the tough jobs done. I dreamed of cooking meals for my family, laying out their outfits at night and folding tiny clothes.
When I’m in a cleaning rut I love putting music on. It’s amazing how you can find music for any occasion. As I write this I’m listening to some relaxing coffee-house music that is totally putting me in the mood to write. When it comes to cleaning music, it’s you’re choice. Maybe it’s pop, country or christian music. It seems as thought the days of cd’s have come and gone and everything is streaming now. Amazon Music, Pandora or iTunes radio are great options for finding music.
I like this one! Quite often I look back through my Facebook pictures to see what my home looked like in the past. Ok, so it isn’t always clean but there are some pictures where my house looks amazing. It’s motivating to see just what your house can look like when it’s clean.
Just suck it up and do it!
If all else fails, just do it. It might be annoying while you’re doing it’s better to just get it done. Maybe reward yourself for getting the job done by fixing a special cup of coffee or even give yourself a cookie.
Homemaking isn’t always enjoyable but having a clean home and happy family is.
How do you find motivation to do the homemaking task you dislike the most? What household job is your least favorite?
