When it comes to knitting and crocheting dishcloths, just any yarn won’t do. You want to use cotton yarn. If you were to use acrylic yarn, your dishcloth wouldn’t be absorbent. Cotton yarn will be able to withstand the wear and tear of washing dishes and is washable.
There are three yarns I use for knitting and crocheting dishcloths. Which one I use, honestly depends on what I have on hand, where the sales are and which store I’m at.
Lily Sugar and Cream is my favorite. The color selection is amazing, not to mention, you can buy it at Walmart, Michaels and on Amazon which are the two places I shop most frequently. On Walmart’s website, there are over 60 colors to choose from. It’s hard to say how many are available on Amazon, but there are more than on Walmart.
Crafter’s Choice from Hobby Lobby is another great choice. It’s 100% cotton, so it’s washable and sturdy. On Hobby Lobby’s website, there are 62 colors to choose from. You can create some amazing dishcloths with all those color options.
Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton
Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton is available at Michaels, on Amazon and online at Walmart. Michaels has 24 colors to choose from. With this yarn, you get 186 yards whereas the other brands have 93 yards.
