If you’re a budding writer but have never found time to put your pen to paper, then maybe now is the time to start thinking about how you might turn those ambitions into a career.
While there are bloggers across the internet, if you’ve got a niche and somewhere your writing will fit nicely into, then why not give it a try?

Blogs Are Fun…Moreover, Profitable
At least they can be. Blogging has been such a blessing to me. I’m able to be creative, help others and help support my family financially.
The first thing you’ll want to do is decide on you’re blog niche, what will you write about? After you’ve chosen your niche you’ll need to choose your domain name. This is the web address that your followers will type in to get to your blog. I would suggest choosing something that is easy to remember and type in. For example, my domain name is armywifewithdaughters.com. You can register your domain name and get started here.
I would highly recommend SiteGround for your hosting. If you plan on making money from your blog you’ll want to be self-hosted and SiteGround is the best in my opinion.
You’ll have to do your research and note all the things that make your favorite bloggers stand out. One of the main things will probably be a great looking, easy to navigate website, rich with images and full of information, without feeling too busy or overwhelming.
You’ll want to make sure your homepage spells out exactly who you are what you’re writing about and feature a link to at least one of your latest blog posts, or several of the most recent ones. Get a professional to show you how to update your blog if you’re unsure.
In terms of writing, you’re looking to create something that readers can relate to and engage with. You need to think about how your writing style might need to adapt to a more general audience in terms of readability. Use a tool like Grammarly to help you get this right.
In general, though, you’re looking at sentences of no more than 20 to 25 words, though go higher if you need to make a sentence work. Just be sure to keep the volume of these longer sentences much lower.
Break up your text using subheadings and relevant images that will help tell your story and create a good flow to the piece. In terms of length, anything over 500 and below 2,000 words is fine, and if you’re writing daily, then 500 words is more manageable for both you as a writer and your audience.
Remember to update your site regularly and if you have switched your comments on, then replying is a great way to engage with the reader and attract more.
Keep an eye on your analytics, which blog posts have attracted more hits and which fell wide of the mark. Work towards finding and writing on subjects that your readers find interesting and want to read.
If you’re looking to make money from your blog, you might consider allowing affiliate posts, and advertising as your site and your readership grow.
