With summer vacation in full swing, I’m on the lookout for activities and crafts to keep my kids entertained. We decided to give this classic slime recipe a try. I know that many people prefer to make slime without borax, so this recipe is perfect.
Before we even started making the slime, I knew there would be messes. You can’t make slime with kids and not have a mess! Make sure to keep a dishcloth or paper towels on hand for quick cleanup.
As far as bowls go, I would suggest using bowls that are only for making slime. We picked some up from the Dollar Store, that way if the glue doesn’t come off all the way it doesn’t matter because it’s only used for making slime.
-Add a ¾ cup of clear glue or 1 bottle of Elmer’s glitter glue if the glue
-If you’re going to add color or glitter now it the time. Stir the color and glitter into the glue before moving on to the next step.
-Add 1/3 cup of liquid starch and stir. Once the slime reaches a point where you can’t stir it easily, remove it from the bowl and kneed/stretch it with your hands.
-If the slime is still too sticky, add a tiny amount of liquid starch. The slime should stretch slowly and break quickly.
-The last thing you’ll want to do is find a container to store your slime in. Do Not use sandwich bags!!! The slime sticks to the bag, making it impossible to get out. Instead, use a Tupperware or slime container.
