Over the past few years, I’ve been trying to switch my cleaning products out for more natural cleaning products. Lately, I’ve been paying closer attention to the labels on cleaning products and doing some research.

Up until recently, I used Mrs. Meyer’s all-purpose spray to clean my counters, bathroom, and pretty much all the surfaces in my home. After doing some research, I discovered that I was only cleaning my home, not disinfecting it. Umm, that’s not ok! With all the illness spreading lately, it’s a priority for me to disinfect. I’m not a germaphobe, but if I can avoid illness, I will.
Another thing I discovered is that truly cleaning surfaces is a two-step process. The first step is to clean your counters with a cleaning spray or soapy dishcloth. That’s not enough! After cleaning the surface you need to disinfect it. Cleaners don’t disinfect, and disinfectants don’t clean.
My new cleaning routine is to run a sink of soapy dishwater and wipe my counters and surfaces down. After that, I spray this amazing DIY disinfectant, let it sit for a few seconds then wipe it away. I’m left with clean surfaces that are free of germs without the chemicals.
